The Candy Shop Talks Photochoping

What has Vanessa Veasley been up to since she left her editor role at Show Magazine? A lot, but one is she has joined The Candy Shop blogtalk radio show. Whether you add their show to your iTunes or not, everyone that is a fan of this site should listen to this episode about Photoshop and Urban Modeling. Vanessa Veasley and Brooke Bailey give it straight, but what takes it over the edge is about halfway when Nick Saglimbeni joins the conversation.

A lot of nonsense gets talked about Photoshop in the urban scene. The fans are quick to yell “She’s Photoshoped to death” or “She got a fake…”, etc. You don’t hear people picking up Playboy, Maxim, or the latest pictures of Megan Fox or Angelina Jolie screaming Photoshop, but they are Photoshoped.  Every image in every magazine is retouched to one degree or another.

The key is if it’s done with an eye for balance between fantasy and reality. I think the SHOWCase issues are best example of retouching done right.  Photoshop works best like any other digital effect, when it’s used to augment what is already there. Anytime you try to create what ain’t there, it just ends up looking fake.

Give a listen and add to your iTunes.

uh, i think everyone out there w/ half a brain knows that magazine models are photo-shopped and covered in gallons of makeup to the point where they look like cartoons. Models themselves like Tyra have even admitted they hardly recognize themselves at times since they look so different.

most of these models are average girls w/o all the stuff. Take any decent looking woman and photoshop and put makeup on and she’ll look great.

I’m glad to hear that Vanessa Veasley is doing pretty well. I didn’t no she ended her job as a Show Magazine Editor. Ah well… hope to see even more of her in the future.
