It’s funny you clump these two together Black cause I read in Esther’s Smooth Retirement spread that she and Melssya had some sort of video model beef back then. Lol don’t know the truth to that or if they ever resolved their differences but thats what I read.
Anyway, Melyssa Ford was a BEAST back then I use to luv that chick especially in that Jadakiss video. Now that I’ve been around her, know some peoples she’s messed with, and see her at every NYC party she’s just a regular industry chick in my eyes. At Terrence J’s bday party back in April Angel Lola Luv got way more media coverage then Melyssa. And a promoter told me they’ve booked Melyssa to host for $500 when some other models I know won’t host for less then $2000.
But not to take anything from Melyssa she invented the curve body poses, nobody could curve their body like Melyssa and it still be classy pics. She is a pro behind the camera. I know models with way more body then her, but once they get in front of the camera they freeze up and your like wtf I thought that chick had more body. Melyssa definitely did her homework with the poses and thats why she stood out from the rest of the video models can’t take that away from her.
As for Esther I can’t take anything away from her she is by far one of the baddest all natural shorties to ever hit the scene. And for that alone she gets props for not having any surgical procedures or enhancements done to her face or body. I liked her video work moreso then her print work. Although that XXL spread with the honey dripping on her triple D’s and her SSX mag with the sword are CLASSICS!
Sidebar: I wish you would have added Vida Guerra, Black. I was a BIG fan of Vida Guerra she was another mami with some sick ass curve body poses. She definitely paved the way for the urban market to embrace the Suelyns, Jesika Maximus’s and Kim Kardashians.
They both are seasoned vets when it comes to this shet.

Even though these appeared in a recent issue of Smooth, I believe these photos are several years old (I know a few of Esther’s are). One thing I never understood is why the urban mags don’t just scan some of those older pics they have of these girls from back in early 2000 – the ones they didn’t publish the first go round – and do a “best of” issue.
It seems like a huge waste to let these photos just languish. I would love to see some outtakes from that Smooth M. Ford cover she did back in ‘04 I believe, where they did the classic pin-up look. And BlackMen must have tons of old Melyssa stuff just lying around collecting dust. Half the first generation urban models are better than the current gen anyway, so why not reveal some of the hidden treasure from the golden era?
Most of them are reprints. The Esther pic (vixens670-esther-baxter) was from her retirement set but it never ran in that issue, so that one is an outtake.
Maybe Smooth, Blackmen only pay for what they publish? The outtakes would still be the photographers? But hell, if they do have the outtakes why they don’t run the better ones is just crazy?!?!
I’m using the term outtake loosely, but in any given photo shoot you have the dead ringers and the pics that are also winners, but maybe you’re a little more on the fence about them. These are the ones they could publish.
I’m sure BlackMen has some real good ass shots of Melyssa back when she really had an ass that fans would love to see.
It’s possible that the models were paid on a per issue basis, as opposed to being paid for the photo session and then the pics are usable ad infinitum. If so, that’s real amateur of the magazine’s legal team. That certainly not what Playboy does.
