…Nowadays, modeling isn’t always viewed as a job; people don’t value us as much. All the magazines are starting to use any and everybody who says they are a model. It may be good for the magazines because they don’t have to spend as much, but it’s bad for the more seasoned models.
I’ve worked with various managers who promised me all kinds of things and didn’t deliver. Now, I’m doing everything myself so that this time around everything gets done the right way. I have a booking agent, Van Silk, but aside from that, I’m managing my own career and my own future.

Baxter is top dolla. Although as sexy as she is I don’t think she is the smartest chick. Who has a baby, gets married and then goes right back to video/urban modeling? It just doesn’t make sense to me. Yea I read she wants to branch out but still starting off with BlackMen after coming out of retirement I mean could she at least got a cover with King? Anyways nice scans she still is the hottest all natural and shit.

LOL, well I did have their links already but, I’ll update with propz. Chanta, her King issue has hit my block yet. I am still on the fence on her.
I agree about the tatoo, i’m not feeling them period. This is a great shoot though and she looks crazy hot, props to the photographer too i’m feeling the whole look of the set, and great job on the scans BJS! As for wanting to branch out from the vixen role, Id have thought now was the perfect time to come back with something more mainstream or different. Instead of just another shoot, but anyway…
BJS, let me help you off that fence about Chanta, brotha. Thumbs down. That was one of the all time worst moves ever for KING. Chanta is attractive, but her main draw was that she started out with better than average photos. That means nothing to the average reader–that’s strictly an insider perk. To make her a cover girl this early on is not only putting style over substance put ruining the standards so necessary to the market. A KING cover is one of the biggest achievements any urban model can attain-it should be earned. You don’t just put some no-name chick with a Model Mayhem profile on the cover of a magazine with a nearly 200,000 circulation. It sends a signal of anarchy to an already shaky market. Ironically, that’s probably what prompted this haphazard decision by KING in the first place — they probably figured they have nothing to loose as screwy as the industry is right now.
Agreed on the King thing. They are losing site of their market.

Why is a King cover so coveted? I mean if you want to compare urban magazines as far as the quality of the models that appear in them, King is not even in the top three IMHO. Add that to the fact that King never does large photo shoots, one thing about Blackmen is that they do alot of tribute issues that are packed with pics.
But I think after all is said and done Smooth Girl is #1 in my book, I wonder if EB will be appearing there anytime soon.

King is a big deal because its the biggest. It appears on more stands, more money, more prestige. Getten the cover of King is big deal. Chanta hasn’t earned it.
