Honestly, this girl to me is the representative of what this industry is about. She just embodies what “the people” who are into this type of modelling want. The only downside to these exquisite shots is that Bria is not showing off her beautiful smile here.

I’ll elaborate on that a bit. I agree, Bria is the epitome, the paradigm if you will, of what an urban model should be. Urban modeling was always about giving shine to the curvy women who men always loved behind closed doors, but who were shunned in the mainstream media. We never got to see these girls in Maxim type shoots. When urban modeling became legit, women like Melyssa and Esther and Maliah finally got the 1st class treatment. It was an affirmation that what guys talked about in the barbershop was liked by a lot more ppl out there.
Bria represents the type of model this industry *should* be about. Voluptuous with a cute face. Urban modeling was never intended for skinny models – but those models have lots of other choices, so there’s no love lost there.

I was just starting to warm up to Bria…. and then these pics came. I DO NOT like her face in these shots AT ALL. The last two pics are really nice, her body is always on point, but the rest I could have definitely gone without seeing. Maybe Nick from Show is just that good he can make ANYONE look great, because I was really feeling Bria’s Show spread. Like someone else said I need to see LA shoot with Show before I can decide on who is the clear winner between the two. Wow…quite a change of heart shown to Bria since her Show Magazine spread was last posted here. I will admit this series is not her strongest but it isn’t awful either. On a positive note I do like the natural sunlight and non-studio environment used in these photos, it is a more realistic way of photography to my eyes.
On a side note: I am surprised by how casually the “monkey” term is thrown around to describe Bria’s face….kinda brutal commentary. Maybe it’s because I am white and overly “PC” that I would prob choose an alternative term if I really thought Bria’s face looked that bad in this series. On the other hand I am probably one of this site’s biggest critics of the PAWGs that are often posted and I don’t sugarcoat my words when describing them so maybe I am no different than some of Bria’s critics here…..just an observation.

Completely agree 907. On my blog, those type of comments, comparing a darker model to an ape or monkey, simply get deleted. They clearly have a pejorative racial overtone.
I try to avoid policing peoples opinions and language but given that it has become a trend I have added all primate references to my comments filter. I actually had to approve Kale’s comment above.
In the future those comments will go into moderation and will most likely be deleted.
Again, I let keep the discussions open and flowing but there are limits.
Sadly it seems really strong ethnic facial features (especially Black or Asian) are considered unattractive. To me they can be extremely beautiful…to each their own.

Bria is super fine. However, she always seems to be photographed in such a way that she kinda looks almost nervous in her facial expressions. The one exception was that shoot on the beach with Suelyn and Alysha. I can’t put my finger on it, but there’s something in her facial expressions that make her look like she’s kinda tryin to hide her face from the camera, like she’s shy or somethin’.. Except for that beach photo shoot. Just my thoughts.

I’m not the best Graphic Artist in the world but I am pretty good; even before I started Art as a career I was drawing before I could walk or read. I have been studying the human form, anatomy, facial expressions, measurements and tones for over 30 years. I am telling you almost to the exact measurements (you can actually do this with a ruler) Bria Myles looks almost exactly like Stacy Dash feature wise with the exception of her upper top lip is a few centimeters bigger. Eyes, the same, nose the same, cheeks the same, same shape of head. The only major difference is skin tone and the color of her eyes & hair. Have you ever seen anyone make a comment about how Stacy Dash doesn’t look good from a certain angle or these pictures make her look ugly? No, it’s alot of people still whether they want to admit it or not consciously or sub-consciously despise Dark skin and can’t call it beautiful ever. When you grow up in a country where they hand you a Barbie doll, a bible (with white Jesus), and a Perm kit the minute you crawl out of your mother as a Black woman in this country you wonder how anyone Beautiful Chocolate Sista has any self esteem at all with all these brainwashed clowns running around.
